Dear Parents, Friends, and Students,
Our online newsletter is back!

We want you to be first to share in the many exciting events happening at Nutmeg, TSOB, in the Dance Shop, and on our Performance circuit.

This newsletter is for and about our students, so, please feel free to contact us if you have something you think should appear in a future issue of the newsletter. Share opinions, photos, or comments with the ever-growing Nutmeg Network.

We have a new website! We want to applaud our web-master, Christine Skilling, for bringing us an advanced, innovative design, and for making the Nutmeg Website as complete, as it is beautiful. Spend some time on the new site, please feel free to let us know how you like it or If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear them.

As always, parents of Resident Students are welcome to come to Nutmeg any time between now and May and spend a day with your child. We would love to give you a complete tour of the facilities and let you observe the academic and dance training programs. You can also watch the rehearsals prior to seeing the final performances. Please feel free to contact us for a visit.

We hope you enjoy reading about our kids (your kids) and our programs. Thanks much for your participation in the ongoing programs at Nutmeg, it wouldn't be possible without you.

Thank you,
Marguerite Sabia
Director of Admissions

A special note to parents...
Because the security of our students is our utmost concern, we have added a password protected area to our Nutmeg website.
What this means for you is your child's weekly schedule is now accessible only to Nutmeg students, faculty, and parents. We encourage you to contact us to obtain your own user ID and password so that you too can view your child's daily activities, or if you have any questions about this change.

2008 Guest Artist Program
Huge Success

Our January – March guest artist agenda brought in a full-house!

Students of the Nutmeg Professional Programs have all had the opportunity to increase their awareness of the study of repertoire and technique through a combination of pedagogues, choreographers and general teachers each of whom have brought unique aesthetic qualities to add to our students' knowledge.
Here is a list of the Teachers who have visited so far: Virginia Johnson, Ron Alexander, Denise Warner Limoli, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Tim Melady, Judith Gosnell. In the near future, others will visit to work with our young trainees to share their wonderful knowledge of the dance world.

These same teachers have also brought with them an array of choreography, some of which will make it to our Graduation Concert Series in May. The most important aspect of this experience is that each and every student has added a number of classical and contemporary pieces to their repertoire. Our young women and men in A1 and A2 levels have learned over six variations from Raymonda, in addition to variations from Sleeping Beauty, Diana, Acteon and Giselle. Our spring concerts will give several of the graduating and student dancers the unique opportunity to perform these variations.

Facility Updates
Putting on a fresh face

Facility Projects are constantly taking place at the beautiful, 50,000 sq ft building complex of Nutmeg. This year, all of the wooden hallway floors of the second and third floor, were replaced with beautiful blonde wood floors. During the summer break, many of the rugs in the dormitory rooms will be replaced. Other areas of the building are being freshly painted and spruced up for the upcoming 08/09 season. Security Systems, a part of the internal building system, are active 24/7 for our students’ overall safety.
Fire equipment is up to code and is being tested reqularly. We ask all of our students to respect and to treat the building complex with care so that future genereations of students can enjoy the space.

News
New secure web feature has been added for both Nutmeg and TSOB students, read on for details.
The Nutmeg Dance Shop coming online!

Website Updates

We have added password protection to the weekly schedule that is posted on the website. This feature will be enabled shortly after we return from Spring Break. All questions about how to log in will be answered upon our return to school. We will be adding many exciting features behind this "firewall" and we will notify you as they become available.

Students and parents- soon, you will be able to order all of your dancewear online, from the Nutmeg Dance Shop. You will be able to shop directly from the Nutmeg website and can open an account or pay directly using PayPal. Parents will find this particularly helpful, though of course, you can always come into the Dance Shop inside the Nutmeg main building. Remember, all proceeds for the shop go directly into the Production Fund at Nutmeg which has allowed us to keep our Costume and Production Department functioning.
